Description

No 5 Hallgate is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the early 19th century and has undergone some later alterations. The building is finished in stucco with painted stone dressings and features a slate roof. It stands three storeys tall and has two bays. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front that spans the full width of the building. Above this, there is a wide fascia that partly obscures two 12-pane sash windows on the first floor. The second floor also has two similar sash windows, which have projecting sills. A moulded timber cornice runs along the top of the building, and there are brick stacks at the ends. This building is included for its group value with other nearby structures.
