Description

No 23 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century and has had some alterations in the 20th century. The building is made of painted brick, featuring gauged brick and stone dressings, and has a concrete tile roof. It stands three storeys high and has two bays. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front with a recessed door leading to a passage on the left. There is an ashlar sill band on the first floor. Above, there are two full-height 20th-century windows in their original openings, each with flat brick arches. There are two similar windows above these, also set below brick arches and featuring projecting sills. The building is topped with a moulded stone cornice and has brick stacks at the ends.
