Description
Thornhill House is a house built in the late 18th century with 19th-century additions. It features deeply-coursed, squared sandstone and a coated slate roof with brick stacks. The building has a three-storey, three-bay symmetrical facade, with a large 19th-century block attached to the full width of the rear and a 19th-century lean-to extension on the right side. The facade includes projecting quoins and a central stone porch with projecting quoins, which has a 20th-century door set in a square-faced stone surround, along with a returned cornice and an ashlar blocking course. The flanking windows of the main range have 20th-century casements in square-faced surrounds with projecting sills, and there are three similar windows on each upper floor. A moulded stone cornice serves as a gutter, while the gable copings are made of ashlar and the end stacks are brick.
