Description
This folly, located approximately 450 metres west-north-west of Tower Cottage at the junction of paths in Deffer Woods, dates from the early to mid 19th century. It features a coursed squared rubble outer wall and a dressed stone inner wall arranged in reducing courses. The building has a conical roof covered with tiles, with stone slate at the lower courses. It is circular in shape, with the front open and supported by four yew trunks set on simple stone footings. The remains of a herringbone brickwork floor can still be seen, along with a stone verge. The semi-circular back wall originally had rounded brickwork at the ends, but the left side is now rendered and the right side is missing. This folly is marked on the 1854 Ordnance Survey map.
