Description
The stable range located approximately 30 metres north-west of Underbank Hall is a Grade II listed building dating from the early to mid 18th century, with a roof that was re-done in the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed, squared rubble and features a stone slate roof. The building has quoins and five stable doorways that have chamfered, quoined surrounds and deep lintels, although the central doorway has been altered. To the right, there is a segmental-headed cart entry. The structure includes square vents and hollow-chamfered gable copings on cut kneelers. On the rear side, there are three square pitching holes positioned at a high level. Each side of the building has a 2-light double-chamfered window at the gable apex, along with regularly placed square vents. Inside, the stable range features sawn softwood king-post trusses of 19th-century design.
