Description
Toll-Bar Cottage is a former toll-bar cottage dating from the mid-19th century, with some alterations and additions made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of dressed squared stone and has a stone slate roof. It features a rectangular two-cell plan and is a single-storey structure.
The cottage has a near-central, four-light, chamfered, transomed, canted bay window with four- and six-pane lights. To the left of the entrance, there is a tall two-light chamfered window, and to the right, a plain surround window, both of which have hoodmoulds. The gables have shaped copings on moulded kneelers, and there is a central pair of ornamental ashlar stacks. At the rear, there are two large 20th-century windows. Additionally, there is a 1970s addition to the left return, which is not considered of special interest.
