Description

A terrace of five houses at Numbers 136 to 144, built in 1824. The houses are constructed of brick with a slate roof. They are three storeys high, except for Number 144, which is two storeys. Each house has one bay, apart from Number 136, which has two bays. The ground-floor windows are bowed tripartite sashes with glazing bars. The first-floor windows of Numbers 138, 140, and 142 are similar. The other upper-storey windows are glazing bar sashes with brick flat arches, except for the first-floor window of Number 144, which has a sashed window with a painted brick arch. Each house has a door at the left, with an engaged reeded column doorcase and a door with six raised and fielded panels. Each has a fanlight, except for Number 144, which has a plain semicircular overlight. Number 140 has a small sashed dormer. Gutters are supported by paired rectangular timber brackets. Chimneys are located on the gables of the three-storey range and between the houses. The interiors were not inspected. The front gardens are enclosed by iron railings set on low brick walls with stone copings, with walls and railings separating the gardens and each featuring an iron gate.
