Description
No. 5 Main Street is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of pinkish-brown brick, with some areas rendered, and features a cement tile roof. The building has a lobby-entry and an L-shaped plan, standing two storeys high with three windows on the first floor. The entrance is off-centre and consists of a four-panel door. The ground floor includes 20-pane sash windows, and there is a three-course band at the first floor that extends across the right gable end. The first floor features 18-pane Yorkshire sash windows that interrupt the cogged eaves band, and there are blocked openings above the door. The roof is swept and hipped to the left, with a brick coped gable end to the right, and ridge and rear stacks. Inside, there are bressumer beams in the fireplaces, along with chamfered beams and exposed joists in some ceilings.
