Description

Tolley House is a pair of houses located on Heslington Main Street, dating from the mid to late 18th century, with later additions and alterations, including a rear outshut. The building is constructed of pinkish-brown brick with red brick dressings and features a pantile roof. It likely originally had a lobby-entry plan. The structure is two storeys high and has four first-floor windows. There are off-centre entrances with six-panel doors that include overlights. The windows are 12 and 4-pane sashes set under flat arches made of red rubbed brick, indicating that the original openings were likely wider. A four-course band runs along the first floor, and there is a ridge and end stack. Additionally, there is an 18th-century lead rainwater head and fallpipe.
