Three houses, now flats and guesthouse. 1865. Brick with slate roof. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with attics and basement. Each house 2 bays. The upper floors have sashed windows with rubbed brick arches, and the 1st floor windows have a sill band. At the left each house has a ground-floor canted bay window which is sashed without glazing bars and has a modillion cornice. The brick bases include basement windows: sashes with glazing bars to No.5 and UPVC replacements to Nos 3 and 4. Each house has a flat-roofed attic dormer. The doorways, at the right, have doors with 4 raised and fielded panels, plain rectangular overlights, panelled reveals, and pilaster doorcases with modillion cornices. Chimneys to left of each house in front of ridge. Modillion gutter cornice. INTERIOR: not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: each house has cast-iron area railings set on low brick walls with stone copings, and a gate. Nos 1-22 Bootham Terrace form an unusually complete row of speculatively built terraced houses, constructed between 1860 and 1870 to an interesting variety of different designs.
