Description

Numbers 3, 4, and 5 are three houses that have been converted into flats and a guesthouse, built in 1865. They are constructed of brick and topped with a slate roof. The buildings stand three storeys high, with attics and a basement, and each house features two bays. The upper floors are adorned with sashed windows that have rubbed brick arches, while the first-floor windows are complemented by a sill band. Each house has a canted bay window on the ground floor, which is sashed without glazing bars and topped with a modillion cornice. The brick bases include basement windows, with sashes and glazing bars for No. 5, and UPVC replacements for Nos. 3 and 4. Each house also has a flat-roofed attic dormer. The doorways, located on the right, feature doors with four raised and fielded panels, plain rectangular overlights, panelled reveals, and pilaster doorcases with modillion cornices. There are chimneys positioned to the left of each house in front of the ridge, and a modillion gutter cornice runs along the top. The interior has not been inspected. Each house is also equipped with cast-iron area railings set on low brick walls with stone copings, along with a gate. Numbers 1 to 22 Bootham Terrace represent a notably complete row of speculatively built terraced houses, constructed between 1860 and 1870, showcasing a variety of interesting designs.
