GV II

Farmhouse. Late C18 with earlier origins; C19 alterations and additions. Coursed limestone rubble with brick stacks, brick additions to rear; colour- washed. Pantile roof. Double-depth plan: original 4-room west front incorporating 2-room central entrance-hall section to right, with addition to rear right containing stairhall. 2 storeys, 6 bays, with symmetrical 3- bay entrance front to right. Half-glazed 2-fold panelled door and plain overlight in architrave, flanked by plate-glass flush sashes with margin lights, sills and stucco cambered arches. To left, three 16-pane sashes in similar surrounds. Flush wooden architraves beneath stucco flat arches. First floor: similar plate-glass sashes with margin lights to right beneath cambered arches, with narrower window above entrance; similar 16-pane sashes beneath flat arches to left. Stepped eaves. Double-span hipped roof. Central axial stack, end stack to right. Right return, facing road, has blocked round-headed brick arch to rear section containing 12-pane sash. Interior: fielded-panel doors and windows shutters to front section; mid C19 geometric staircase with moulded handrail, turned balusters and round-headed stairwindow; moulded cornices to main rooms.
