11/46 Cart-shed/granary approximately 60 metres east-north-east of Newstead Priory Farmhouse

GV II

Cart-shed/granary. Early C19 incorporating re-used medieval masonry; later C19 and C20 alterations. For Yarborough Estate. Yellow brick front, limestone rubble and ashlar to sides and rear, red-brick gables, corrugated asbestos roof. Rectangular on plan. East front: 2 storeys, 5 bays. 5 elliptically-arched cart entrances with ashlar impost band, boarded above impost level and with hinges for former doors; C20 blocking to arch at right end. First floor: casement to left with sill and timber lintel at eaves level, 3 similar openings to right boarded-up at time of resurvey. 3-course stepped and cogged brick eaves cornice. Left return has wooden steps to first-floor board door with 4-pane overlight beneath segmental arch. Right return has first-floor casement. Rear has 3 first-floor 3-pane casements, one boarded opening and brick eaves cornice similar to front. Included for group value.
