Description

This is a mid-19th century building of two storeys, comprising numbers 23 and 24 Bigby Street. The structure is red brick with a Welsh slate roof, stone-coped gable ends with kneelers, and a central brick stack. There are two small dormer windows on number 24. The building has six windows in total, with hung sashes incorporating glazing bars. Each window has a triple keystone, and console brackets support the cills. An eaves band and a moulded stone band run between the floors. The ground floor windows also have hung sashes with glazing bars and triple keystones that connect to the band. The end doors are made of four panels, with two fielded panels each, and are topped by two-light fanlights. A small brick plinth with a stone capping includes a foot scraper. The building is part of a group valued for its contribution to the streetscape, alongside numbers 16 to 25.
