Description

This building is a farmhouse located approximately 30 metres north of Walnut Farmhouse. It dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with a later extension added to the left. The earlier section is constructed of roughly-squared limestone with brick dressings, while the addition is made of coursed rubble. The farmhouse features brick stacks and a pantile roof.

The original L-plan section has a symmetrical two-room central entrance front, with a kitchen located at the rear right and a single-room extension at the front left that includes a rear outshut. The building has two low stories and three first-floor windows. To the right, there are brick quoins. The entrance, situated to the right of centre, features a recessed 19th-century panelled door flanked by 12-pane sliding sashes, which are topped with rendered brick cambered arches and later brick cills. To the left of the entrance is a casement window with glazing bars, positioned under a rendered segmental brick arch.

On the first floor, there is an oval recess that once held a datestone above the entrance, one 8-pane sliding sash window under a wooden lintel at eaves level, and blocked windows of similar size on both the left and right. The building has a stepped and dentilled brick eaves cornice, a flipped roof with a large original axial stack at the rear, and a pair of later axial stacks at the front. The interior contains beamed ceilings. At the time of re-survey, the building was no longer in use as a house and was partly derelict.
