Description
The Employees' Memorial Fountain at Reckitt and Colman (Pharmaceutical) Limited is a war memorial fountain designed by sculptor William Aumonier, which was unveiled in November 1921. It is constructed from ashlar and features a large standing figure of a woman alongside a dying man on a square base. The pedestal has a swagged tablet on the front and rear, with a tablet featuring a segmental pediment on either side. At the front corners, there are two water spouts shaped like fish held by cherubs. The fountain is set on a rectangular plinth with rounded ends, which includes a central water spout and a fish at each corner. The entire structure is situated within a rectangular pool that has shouldered rounded ends and moulded coping. This memorial honors the company employees who lost their lives during the First World War.
