Description
The bridge over the former Foredyke Stream in Kingston upon Hull was built in 1902 by Rose, Downs & Thomson Ltd of Hull. It is a road bridge constructed using reinforced concrete on the Hennebique system, featuring terracotta parapets and brick flanking walls. The parapets and flanking walls are pierced and have traceried designs with moulded coping. The rectangular piers are corniced and include relief panels topped with stepped granite caps. On the south-west pier, there is a plaque that states, "This bridge is the first bridge built in ferro-concrete in Great Britain. 'Hennebique System'. Constructed by Rose, Downs & Thompson Ltd, Hull, in 1902." The stream has been filled in, leaving only the parapets of the bridge visible.
