Description
The fountain at the junction with Salisbury Street in Kingston upon Hull is an ornamental structure dating from around 1875. Made of cast iron, it features a cruciform base that supports an octagonal pedestal adorned with four scroll brackets and four figures of mermaids blowing conches. The fountain has a shallow basin with relief decoration. Above this, there is a smaller octagonal pedestal flanked by four life-size figures of herons, which hold a smaller shallow basin that contains a scrolled central spout. The fountain has since been repurposed as a plant trough.
