Description
The Laurels is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with 20th-century restoration. It is constructed of red brick and has a pantiled roof. The building has two storeys with attics and features five bays. The central bay projects slightly and contains a 20th-century double-leaf door with margin-pane glazing and an overlight, set within a doorcase that is flanked by attached shafts with Tower of the Winds capitals. Above the doorcase is a blank frieze, and there are modillion, raked, and eaves cornices leading to a pediment. On either side of the central bay are sash windows with sills and glazing bars. The first floor also has five similar sash windows. A moulded timber eaves cornice runs along the top, and there are two raking roof dormers featuring sliding sashes with glazing bars. The raised gables are finished with tumbled-in brick on brick kneelers, and there are stacks at each end of the building.
