Description

The properties at 14 and 16 Church Street are a house dating from the early 18th century, although they may have earlier origins. They are built of coursed rubble with brick patching and have a pantiled roof. The building follows an off-centre lobby-entry plan and is a single storey with attics, originally consisting of three bays. The front door is of six raised and fielded panels, and is flanked to the right by a 20th-century shop front. To the left of the door is a 12-pane fixed window and, further to the left, a sliding sash window with glazing bars. The attics are lit by two gabled roof dormers on the left side, each containing a 2-light casement window. The building has raised gables and end and axial chimneys. The right bay has been rebuilt, likely in the 19th century.
