Description

The property at 12 Hengate is a building dating from the first half of the 18th century and the early 19th century. It is constructed of painted stucco, with an asbestos slate roof and end stacks. A moulded brick ogee bracket cornice runs along the top, with a wooden gutter supported on wrought iron brackets. The front of the building has two windows and a central blocked window, all with stone heads featuring enriched keystones, and near-flush-frame double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. A wooden doorcase, featuring plain pilasters and an entablature with a shelf cornice, frames the six-panel door. The upper panels of the door are fielded, and there is a fanlight above. Inside, the chimney piece displays Adam detailing.
