Description
The Half Moon Public House is a public house located on the south side of Market Weighton High Street. It dates from the mid to late 18th century but has earlier origins, with the eaves raised in the 19th century. The building is constructed of brick and coursed rubble on the left gable, and it features a colourwashed finish with a cast tile roof.
It stands two storeys high and has three bays. There is a plinth at the base. The central carriageway is set under an elliptical arch, with a late 19th-century shopfront to the right and a window with glazing bars and a sill under a segmental head to the left. On the first floor, there is a 2-pane window with a sill under a wedge lintel, flanked by two 4-pane sash windows with sills under wedge lintels. The building has end stacks and plain close verges.
Inside, the front left room contains a principal joist that appears to be in situ, featuring ovolo chamfers and ogee stops.
