Description

This is a late 18th and early 19th century terrace of four buildings on the north side of High Street, Market Weighton. The buildings are constructed of brown brick with a timber eaves cornice and a pantiled roof, and have end stacks.

Numbers 12 and 14 are two storeys high and each two bays wide. They have paired four-panel doors beneath bracketed cornices, with a canted bay containing sash windows with glazing bars to the left and an early 19th century shop window to the right. The first floor has sash windows with glazing bars, set within cambered gauged brick arches. Number 16 is two storeys high and one bay wide. It has a 20th century glazed front door with a fanlight featuring radial glazing within a reeded doorcase. To the left is a similarly detailed shopfront, also altered in the 20th century. The first floor has a 16-pane sash window under a cambered brick head. The buildings are included on the list for their group value.
