Description
This is a terrace of six houses located at 37 to 47 Wood Street in Port Sunlight, built in 1895 by Grayson and Ould. The houses are constructed of brick with stone dressings and feature a tiled gambrel roof. They are one storey high with an attic and consist of six bays. The design includes a weathered stone base, a dentilled brick cornice, and coping between the second and third and fourth and fifth bays.
The windows have elliptical heads, with straight-headed leaded casements; the ground floor features four-light windows, while the first floor has three-light windows set in crow-stepped gabled dormers. Triangular shafts and aprons lead to elliptical-arched hoods over the ground floor windows. The entrances are also elliptical-headed, with doors that have vertical strips and elliptical lights with glazing bars. The returns of the terrace are similar, showcasing crow-stepped gables, and the rear maintains a similar appearance, including privies.
