Description

Nos. 314, 316, and 318 New Chester Road are three houses built in 1898 by Grayson and Ould. They are constructed of brick with stone dressings and feature plastered diapering, topped with a tiled roof. The buildings are two storeys high and have three gabled bays with end blocks that include parapets. A cornice runs along the ground floor, and there are stone-coped parapets and gables. The windows have stone lintels; the ground floor features 4-light leaded casements, while the first floor has 5-light double-chamfered-mullioned windows with transoms and central blind lights, all set within diapered gables. The entrances are located in recessed porches supported by timber posts, with plank doors that include lights. The houses have two cross-axial and gable-end stacks, along with decorative rainwater heads. The rear of the buildings is similar, featuring three flat-topped dormers and privies.
