Description
This is a pair of houses located at 90 and 92 Park Road South, built around 1840 to 1850. They are faced with ashlar stone and have a concrete tiled roof. The buildings are two stories high and feature a six-window range, with a prominent central block flanked by symmetrical bays. There are side entrances in projecting porches, with the left entrance framed by an architrave and recessed fluted shafts. The windows in the central block are set in stressed architraves. All windows have been replaced with six- and nine-pane pivotal windows in their original openings. The elevation facing the park has a seven-window range topped with a central pediment. The houses have gable and axial stacks, and there are panelled ashlar gate piers with shallow pyramidal copings on either side. These houses are likely part of the original development associated with Birkenhead Park.
