Description

A pair of houses dating from approximately 1840, located on South Bank in Oxton, Birkenhead. The houses are constructed with a roughcast render finish, smooth rendered dressings, and a Welsh slate roof. They are symmetrically planned, each with a two-unit layout. The outer gabled bays project forward, featuring cast-iron traceried arched windows on both the ground and first floors. The right-hand house has a renewed glazed door with a lozenge-shaped overlight, while the left-hand house features French windows with small glazed panels. Each house has an axial chimney stack. A plan of Oxton from 1847 documents the properties.
