Description

The Cottage is a house that likely dates back to the 17th century, with evidence of a roof that has been raised and a blocked window dated "1786/RW". The exterior is roughcast with a slate roof and brick stacks. The first bay features a 2-light casement window, while the second and third bays have 2-light single-chamfered-mullioned windows that include iron bars. The original 2-light single-chamfered-mullioned windows in the second and third bays are now blocked, replaced by a later horizontally sliding sash window above. There are two entrances, each with plank doors, and the house has cross-axial and gable-end stacks. At the rear, there is an area of rubble walling and an inserted window, which may suggest the presence of a rear wing.
