Description

Great Houghwood Cottage is an early 19th-century house located on the north side of Red Barn Lane in Billinge Chapel End. The cottage is roughcast with a slate roof and consists of two storeys and three bays. It features painted quoins at the corners and around the window jambs. The windows are sashed and do not have glazing bars. To the left, there is a round-headed entrance that has a Doric doorcase with an open pediment. There is a small 20th-century extension on the right side of the building, and a chimney stack is located at the right gable end. The cottage is included for its group value.
