Description

31 and 33 Manchester Road are a semi-detached pair of houses, likely built between 1842 and 1850, with alterations made in the early 20th century. The houses are rendered, with No. 31 painted white, and feature a slate roof with some red tiles. They have a double-depth halls-adjoining plan and are single-fronted.

The exterior consists of two storeys with a total of four windows on the ground floor. The central area has coupled doorways protected by a single early 20th-century lean-to glazed porch with a single-pitched tiled roof. Flanking the doorways are early 20th-century canted bay windows, each with pentice tiled roofs. The first floor features windows with three, two, two, and three Tudor-arched lights, which include horizontal glazing bars. The windows of No. 31 have hoodmoulds, with the one to the right previously extending across to No. 33 but now cut off at the junction. Gablets are present over both outer windows. The roof has oversailing verges and gable chimneys.

The interior has not been inspected. These houses form a group with Nos. 27 and 29 to the left.
