Description
The Cottage (Number 15) is a farmhouse and cottage located on Little Crosby Road, likely dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with some alterations. It is constructed of handmade brick set on a stone plinth, with the front painted and a graduated stone slate roof featuring gable copings. The building has a linear plan consisting of two plus one units, with 20th-century extensions at the back.
The structure is one-and-a-half storeys high and has two plus one windows. The Cottage has a gabled porch that is slightly offset to the right of center, a small two-light casement window to the left, and an oblong three-light casement window to the right. There are also two half-dormer windows, each with two-light casements and shallow hipped roofs. The adjacent Number 17 features a similar three-light casement window at ground level and a matching dormer above, along with a doorway in the right-hand gable wall. The gables are coped, and there is a short square brick chimney on the ridge aligned with the doorway of Number 15.
The interior has not been inspected. Collectively, the buildings on Little Crosby Road create a valuable group that showcases a variety of scales, dates, materials, and styles.
