Description
24 and 26 Little Crosby Road are a pair of cottages, likely built in the early 18th century, which have been enlarged and altered over time. They are constructed from uncoursed sandstone rubble with quoins and some red brick, topped with a graduated slate roof featuring brick chimneys. The cottages have a double-depth, two-unit plan and stand at two low storeys with one window on each side.
Each cottage has a three-light casement window on both floors. The ground floor windows have segmental heads made from a single course of handmade brick headers. Number 26 has a doorway to the right of its window, also with a similar brick head, while number 24 has a doorway in the right-hand gable wall. There is a gable chimney on the right side and a ridge chimney at the junction on the left.
The interior has not been inspected. Collectively, the buildings in the Little Crosby Conservation Area create a valuable group with a similar scale but varied dates, materials, and styles.
