Description
The cross and the site of a former well, located on Little Crosby Road in Crosby, are notable features from 1758. The cross is made of sandstone blocks and is mounted on a square plinth that is set back from the footway, matching the height of the surrounding boundary wall. It has a three-step base and a stop-chamfered shaft, with the year "1758" inscribed at the base. The top section of the cross has been renewed and features a 19th-century cruciform head with raised lettering that reads "IHS". The site of the former well is to the left of the cross and is enclosed on three sides by a low stone wall. Together, these elements contribute to the character of the Little Crosby Conservation Area, which is recognized for its collection of buildings that vary in date, materials, and style while maintaining a similar scale.
