Description

This is a house, dated 1873 as shown on the staircase. It is built of stucco, with a slate roof. The house has two storeys and three bays. A sill band runs along the ground floor, and sill courses are present on the first and second floors, topped by a bracketed cornice. The first bay features an open pediment. The windows have round and segmental heads, incorporating egg-and-tongue moulded arches, keystones, and imposts. A porch with an open pediment/gable has a round-arched entrance, framed by rusticated pilasters and egg-and-tongue mouldings. An octagonal tower on a corner rises three storeys, featuring round-arched windows, a top cornice, and battlements. A fire escape and a flat-topped dormer are located to the left of the tower. The garden front shows two storeys, including a wide, three-sided, two-storey bay window, and four further windows on each floor, arranged in pairs. A two-storeyed verandah, supported by slender iron columns and decorated with delicate iron leaves and tendrils in the spandrels, adds to the appearance. The ground floor verandah acts as a balcony to the first floor, while the upper verandah is covered by the projecting eaves of the roof.
