Description

The drinking fountain at the junction of Mulgrave Street is a Grade II listed structure from the later 19th century. It is made of stone and iron, featuring a square base with four round basins and round-arched niches for taps. The design includes a rosette frieze and a cornice. The upper part of the fountain has an iron lamp standard shaped like a Corinthian column, complete with four volute feet and a fluted shaft. It also has bracketed arms that display City shields. The slender shaft extends to the top where a lamp would have been, although the lamp itself is now missing.
