11-53, Seymour Street

This is a terrace of houses built in the early 19th century, located on the east side of Seymour Street. Rainwater heads dated 1810 and 1823 indicate the period of construction. The houses are constructed of brick with stone dressings, and have slate roofs. They are arranged over three storeys with a basement, and each house has two bays. A sill band is present on the first floor of numbers 19 to 53, and there is a top cornice above the main entablature. Chimneys are located at the ends of the terrace. The windows have wedge lintels and were originally sash windows, although many have been lost.

Numbers 11 and 13 feature paired doors set under an elliptical arch with a complete fanlight above. Numbers 15 and 17 have complete Gothic fanlights; number 17 is largely destroyed, with only the ground floor front wall remaining. Numbers 19 and 21 also have complete fanlights, with number 21 having a six-panel door. Number 25 has a fanlight and sash windows with glazing bars to the upper floors. Number 27 has a mid-19th century balcony to the first floor. Number 31 has a six-panel door. Number 35 has a complete fanlight, and number 37 has an early 19th century balcony to the first floor and a complete fanlight. Blind windows are present on the second floor of numbers 39 to 47. Number 47 has a complete fanlight. Numbers 49 and 51 have plain glazed fanlights, with number 49 retaining sash windows with glazing bars and number 51 having 20th-century casements. Both numbers 49 and 51 have iron area railings, as does number 53, which also features sash windows with glazing bars and a six-panel door.
