Description

This house dates from the 1840s. It is stuccoed with a slate roof. The building is two storeys high, with a basement and attic, and has a three-by-two-bay facade. The ground floor is channelled and rusticated, with a cornice above and a top frieze and cornice, accentuated by quoin strips. A third bay provides an end stack. The ground floor’s first bay features a tripartite sash window with angle pilasters and a dentil cornice. First-floor windows have architraves, scrollwork friezes, and consoled, dentilled cornices; the first bay’s window is complemented by a balustraded balcony. Round-headed windows are set within the pedimented gable. An entrance is provided by a porch with balustrade. The right return, facing the Esplanade, features ground floor canted bay windows with Doric colonnettes; the second bay includes a balustrade. Some original iron railings and iron gate piers are also present.
