Description
This is a cast iron street lamp, likely from the early 20th century, located between Eldon Grove and Bevington Street. It features a square plinth adorned with Greek key ornamentation and was originally equipped with a drinking fountain on two sides. The lamp is positioned above this tall plinth, which has a splayed base decorated with foliage patterns and corner feet. It has a fluted high column with two ornamented arms that hold the lamp. The lamp now stands in front of a tarmac play area, with a similar lamp located on the opposite side at Limekiln Lane. It was built as part of the playground in front of the Eldon Grove housing development between 1911 and 1912.
