Description
The Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady of Reconciliation of La Salette is a Catholic church built between 1859 and 1860, designed by Edward Welby Pugin. It is constructed from buff stone with red stone dressings and features a slate roof. The church has a single vessel nave and chancel with a rounded east end, and the aisles are covered by leant-to roofs. The nave, which has eleven bays, includes sexfoil clerestory windows situated between flat buttresses.
At the west end, there is a shallow 20th-century porch with a large wheel window above it and a canopied, louvred opening at the top of the gable. An octagonal bellcote with a short spire and cusped lights is also present. The aisle ends feature sexfoil windows, while the other windows are lancets. The entrance at the west end of the north aisle has a segmental head beneath a pointed relieving arch, with the tympanum displaying the diocesan arms. The chancel is adorned with nine cusped lancets and flat buttresses. Inside, there is a pointed arcade supported by round stone columns and high timber roofs. Extensions to the east are not of interest.
