Description
Nos. 53, 55, and 57 Catharine Street are three houses built in the 1830s. They are constructed of brick with stone dressings and feature a slate roof. Each house is three storeys tall with a basement and has three bays. The design includes a basement lintel band, a first-floor sill band, and a top frieze, cornice, and blocking course. The windows have wedge lintels and are sashed with glazing bars, with one blind second-floor window in each house. The entrances are adorned with Ionic porches, with the porches for Nos. 55 and 57 being paired and supported by three columns. There are iron railings in front of the areas and steps, which have decorative heads. No. 53 features two iron balconies on the first floor.
