Description

A terrace of 19 houses built in the 1830s, incorporating numbers 180 Bedford Street South, and extending south to include numbers 65 and 67 Catharine Street. The terrace is constructed of brick with stone dressings and a slate roof. Each house is three storeys high with a basement, and has three bays. Features include a lintel band to the basement, a sill band to the first floor, a top frieze, cornice, and blocking course. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, each with a wedge lintel. The entrances are set back behind Ionic porches and have six-panel doors. Iron railings, with fleur-de-lys tops (dating to the 20th century), are present to the areas and steps. An iron balcony is located on the first floor of numbers 81, 97, and 99. The return to Upper Parliament Street at number 180 Bedford Street South is three bays wide, featuring a projecting window with a tripartite sash. The first-floor windows are architraved, with the central window having its own frieze and cornice. A round-headed window is set within a pedimented gable. An enclosed porch, rendered in stucco, is present, with the doorway now blocked.
