Description

Fox's Farmhouse is a farmhouse, likely built in the early 18th century, with some alterations. It features rendered brick with stone quoins on the ground floor and a roof primarily covered with slates, except for four courses of stone slates on the outshut at the rear. The building has a baffle-entry plan consisting of three bays and an outshut, with an axial chimney stack located between the first and second bays and a gable chimney stack at the right end.

There is a two-storey gabled porch situated between the first and second bays, which has a semicircular arched opening and a two-light sliding sash window above it. Inside the porch, there are internal benches and unglazed peepholes. The farmhouse has six identical sash windows with glazing bars and stone sills, one on each floor in each bay, and there are remains of a string course below the top of the ground floor window in the first bay.

Inside, the first bay, which originally served as the kitchen, features wide hearths with large bressumer beams, and the housepart also has similar beams. A dog-leg staircase leads from the parlour in the outshut, while a quarter-turn staircase is found in the kitchen. The doors throughout the farmhouse have shouldered panels. A datestone from 1721 is mentioned but is no longer visible.
