Description
Nos 4, 6, and 10 Queen Square is a mid-18th century town house constructed of brick, which is now rendered, featuring a stone cornice gutter and a slate roof. The building has a double-pile plan, stands three storeys tall, and has five symmetrical bays. It features tall windows with glazing bars and casements on the first floor, and similar but lower windows on the second floor. The house is set back between adjoining buildings on each side, and its ground floor has been incorporated into two shops that extend over the originally open area at the front. However, the original entrance remains, complete with an attached stone doorcase featuring Doric pilasters and an open pediment, as well as a semi-circular fanlight with radiating glazing bars. Inside, there is a fine 18th-century dogleg staircase that spans all three floors, characterized by an open string, carved brackets, turned balusters, and column newels with ball pendants.
