Description
Upholland School is a secondary school built in 1962, designed by A Forsyth and D Gray of Lyons, Israel and Ellis. The building features board-marked reinforced concrete and brick walls, with flat roofs. It has a corridor spine that includes large and small assembly halls and a gymnasium at the north end, while classrooms of various lengths and a constant width are located in the center and south section, oriented east and west. The school has a full-height entrance hall in the middle and is two stories tall. The classrooms are fully glazed with varnished timber frames and have a thick timber 'dado' rail, along with painted metal subframes. The elevations on the east and west sides of the building step back and forth between the brick cross walls that define the classrooms.
