Description
Mere Cottage is a small house, likely built in the late 18th century, which has been slightly altered and restored. It is constructed from coursed squared sandstone and features a stone slate roof. The building has a double-depth, double-fronted layout with a back extension. It stands two storeys tall and has two windows on the front that are almost symmetrical. There is a small gabled wooden and glazed porch that is offset to the left, and each floor has two square windows, all with plain surrounds and restored transomed six-light sliding sashes. The house has gable chimneys. On the right-hand gable wall, there is a doorway towards the rear with a plain surround and a studded board door. The rear of the cottage includes a casement window at ground floor, a sliding-sash window at first floor, and a short two-storey wing that appears to have been raised from one storey, featuring a restored casement window at ground floor.
