SD40NW HALSALL LANE 663-1/4/160 (East side) Lodge to Water Pumping House

Lodge, now private dwelling. c.1870, slightly altered. Red brick in English bond, with sandstone dressings and slate roof. T-plan formed by short 2-unit main range with crosswing to right. Elizabethan style. Two-and-a-half storeys, 2:1 windows. The main range has a gabled wooden porch in the angle, with a round-headed archway and lead cladding, a very small 2-light window above, and to the left a 3-light mullioned window and above this a half-dormer with hipped lead-clad roof; and continued to the left, a single-storey continuation with a cross-window and coped gable. The gabled wing to the right has a stone canted bay window with hipped stone roof, and a 3-light window above. Tall clustered chimney stack at junction, and tall rebuilt chimney at left gable. Rear has fenestration including a staircase window with a gablet over it. Forms group with associated Water Pumping House (q.v.).
