Description

A row of seven cottages located on Dingle Road, Up Holland, built primarily in the late 18th century, with number 41 added in the middle to later 19th century and subsequently altered. The cottages are constructed of coursed squared sandstone rubble with re-constituted stone slate roofs, except for number 39 which has stone slates now covered with felt, and number 41 which has slate. Each cottage follows a double-depth plan and is single-fronted, with number 41 set back. They are two storeys high, each with one window. Vertical joints are visible between numbers 29 and 31, and numbers 37 and 39. Doorways are generally positioned to the right, with the exception of number 39, which has its doorway to the left, all featuring simple rectangular lintels and altered doors. The ground floor windows are square, while the upper floor windows are oblong, mostly with flush sills and simple rectangular lintels. Number 39 has a raised sill, and number 41 has raised sills and wedge lintels, with all windows exhibiting altered glazing. Ridge chimneys are present, along with a gable chimney on the left. The cottages form a group with number 22 opposite and numbers 8 and 10 Tithebarn Street to the south.
