Description
Blackledge House is a house built in the early to mid 19th century, said to have a datestone from 1847. It is constructed from coursed squared sandstone with quoins and features a slate roof. The building has a rectangular double-depth, double-fronted plan, with a service wing attached to the rear left corner.
The house is two storeys high and has three symmetrical windows. The central round-headed doorway includes imposts, a keystone, a panelled door, and a fanlight with radiating glazing bars, all protected by an early 20th-century wooden and glazed porch. The windows are 12-pane unhorned sashes with raised sills and wedge lintels, and there is a prominent moulded gutter cornice. The chimneys are located on the gables and there is a ridge chimney offset to the left.
On the left gable wall, there are two similar windows, although the first-floor rear window is blind with painted glazing bars, and there is a small porch at the rear. The rear of the house features windows with small-pane glazing, which have likely been altered. The service wing consists of two portions: the first is two low storeys with one window, made of stone at the front and brick at the rear; the second is a single-storey structure, all in stone.
