Description

Nos. 320 and 322 on Newchurch Road are a pair of houses dating from around 1800 that have been altered and are now used as shops. The front is made of watershot coursed sandstone, while the rear is constructed from slobbered sandstone rubble. They have a stone slate roof with ridge chimney stacks located in the center and at each end. The buildings have a double depth plan, with each house being one bay wide. They are built on a slope and present only two storeys to the front, although they are three storeys in total. No. 320 features a double-fronted shop window, while No. 322 has an inserted shop window and a doorway with a plain surround, along with two sashed windows above. A notable feature is the rear wall, which includes one stepped triple-light window at the lower ground floor and two similar windows on each floor above. These houses are likely associated with domestic manufacture and bear resemblance to Nos. 366 and 368 Newchurch Road.
