Description
Fairwall Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1748, as indicated on the porch, and is now used as a house. It is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble with quoins, with some parts whitewashed. The roof is made of stone slates at the front and slate at the rear, featuring gable chimneys and a ridge chimney. The building has a double depth, 2-bay plan and stands two storeys high.
Prominently offset slightly to the right of centre is a two-storey gabled porch, which includes a doorway with a large rectangular lintel, a small datestone inscribed with "H I D 1748," and a round-headed light on the first floor. To the left of the porch, there is a horizontal rectangular window on each floor, all of which are now casements but were probably originally mullioned. The return walls each have one window at ground level, while the rear features a plain doorway in the centre and various windows, all now top-hung casements, although some were recently mullioned.
