Description
Nos. 366 and 368 on Newchurch Road are a pair of houses built around 1800, with alterations made in the late 19th century. They are constructed from watershot coursed sandstone and have roofs made of stone slate and slate, featuring one chimney stack on the ridge and one at each gable. The houses have a double depth plan, with each house consisting of one bay. Built on a slope, they present only two storeys to the front, which includes two doorways with plain surrounds and three vertical rectangular windows at ground level, along with four windows above. No. 366 is symmetrical and double-fronted. The left return wall of No. 366 features a long flight of external stone steps leading to an attic doorway in the gable, which was originally cantilevered but is now supported by brick infill at a lower level. A notable feature is the rear wall, which has two doorways with plain surrounds flanked by stepped triple-light windows at the lower ground floor, and two similar windows on each floor above, along with five smaller windows. The houses are likely associated with domestic manufacture and resemble Nos. 320 and 322 on Newchurch Road.
